Winter Maxi

Red Hot Tomato

MBMJ Ozzie square bag, H&M blazer, dress and cuff, Zara wedges, FineFinds necklace, YSL arty ring,

Joining the bag family is my newly purchased Marc by Marc Jacobs Ozzie Square Smith Flap Satchel in Tomato. What a mouthful! I cannot express how much I adore this structured (yet feminine) crossbody bag that's functional for both work and play. Made of textured leather, this bag resembles ostrich without the astronomical price tag and it's roomy with a ton of compartments to help me stay organized (As Lisa puts it, it's an OCD person's dream!). The bold tomato red with a hint of coral is just the pop of color I'm looking for this fall/winter, and you can bet I'll be wearing it all though spring/summer too.

To let the ozzie bag get the spotlight, I wore it against nothing but nude tones with small gold accents. The fringe dress, a summer favourite, was worn with my beloved cream blazer (also seen in outfits here and here). How adorable is the birdcage necklace from FineFinds? The best part of boutique shopping is stumbling on unique pieces like this. Where else would you find a necklace where the door actually opens to a birdie swinging on a triangle? Certainly not at H&M!

Window by CFON

Fashion bloggers love local boutiques and they're showing us some love back! A few Vancouver bloggers including myself were invited to take part in styling the windows at the oh-so-lovely store Barefoot Contessa. The store proudly supports local designers and has an abundance of feminine jackets, pretty frocks, and vintage-inspired jewelry. If you're a girly-girl like me, you'll find it difficult to walk out empty handed.

Following the fabulous styling work by Kelsey (The Anthology), Nicole (Le Mode du Jour), and Melissa (Miss Melissa), my beautiful fellow blogger Anya (I'm the It Girl) and I had the pleasure of showcasing our personal style at the Main Street location this week.

The theme I went with was Tea-party for a real lady. From tweed jackets to laced mini's, she is elegant for every occasion. Not only is she a classy lady who dresses the part, but a fun fem who's not afraid to wear mini-top hats and flowers in her hair. My window is on display until Wednesday, Oct 27th. I'd love for you to check it out in person if you're in the area. Don't forget to give a shout out to Anya when you spot the adorable it-girl buttons on her outfits!

Chapters Indigo 2013 Holiday Preview

Christmas in August!  Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Indigo Holiday Magic Preview event at the Owner's Suite in the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It was a sneak peek of all the holiday goodies coming to Chapters Indigo in the most spectacular setting. From the living room to the upper level bedroom and courtyard, the luxurious suite was decorated entirely for the holidays. I especially loved the the girly cushions and fun accessories in the bathroom. It appears that Chapters is no longer just a place for books; it has become the ultimate destination for gifts home decor. I'm already looking forward to picking up a few Holiday items, arriving in store in mid-October!

Spring with Stuart

Zara tweed jacket and shorts, Express blouse, Stuart Weitzman shoes
Stuart Weitzman, that is! I finally found the perfect pair of Mary Janes! The 'Capsize' from Stuart Weitzman's spring 2012 truly had me at Hello with its classic and feminine shape. Although they also come in black and mint green, I opted for the neutral and very versatile color 'blush'.  The best part about them is the modern and striking silver cap-toe on the blush patent leather.  I'm absolutely in love with these beauties! Complimenting the outfit are a few bracelets hand-made by yours truly.  I've been doing a lot of experimenting with jewelry-making lately. Working mainly with pearls, I've been busy creating both classic and fun pieces including the ribbon wrapped bracelets pictured below (in peach-coral and mauve). I'll be doing a full post on my pearl creations very soon. I can't wait to share them with you!

J.Crew opens in Vancouver

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the J.Crew opening party in Vancouver.  It was lovely to get a first look at the brand new store before it officially opened to the public the following day on April 25th.  The beautifully decorated 2-floor store displayed their fresh and colourful current spring/summer collection.  The design geniuses behind the brand were in presence: Tom Mora, head of women’s design and Frank Muytjens, head of men’s design.  They mingled with a room full of Vancouver's most stylish media and fashion crowd. It was so great to see some familiar faces and I'm glad I got to catch up with Lisa from Solo Lisa. It looks like I'll be a regular at this store as I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Colour Blocking Fun

Lace top from London, Zara skirt, Ferragamo flats, MBMJ bag

A few years ago I would not have been able to wear this ensemble without feeling like a clown.  I love that color-blocking isn't just for the brave souls anymore.  We can all forget about those wardrobe rules, be creative, and just have fun with it! I went with 3 of my favourites from the colour wheel and was pleasantly surprised by how well these bright solids complimented each other.  Wearing this outfit, I spent some quality time in the sun with my furry friend last weekend, pretending it was the summer.  Let's hope there are more sunny days in the forecast for Vancouver soon so I can put away that winter coat and experiment mixing even bolder colours. I hope everyone is having a great start to spring!
